It is very important to teach the young ones in a playful manner. It is simpler that way to keep them engrossed. Little ones tend to get bored too comfortably. They have short span of attention. To make the activity funny you could make funny faces, joke around, snort or do the like. When the little ones will observe you having fun they will try to do the same.
Another thing you can do to make the yoga session interesting for young ones would be to pick a theme. You can pick any theme that you prefer to. A few options are alphabets, things that fly, opposites, and shapes etc. Having a theme helps pull attention and provides a context to the otherwise unrelated poses.
The power of stories is indisputable. You can use the power of stories to involve the children in their yoga session. Inform them stories about aircrafts or imaginative creatures. In the story, you may teach them how a particular fictional character practiced a particular yoga pose. Stories grab the imagination and facilitate participation. They will help you involve the participants physically, emotionally and psychologically.
You may introduce music in your class while teaching yoga to the children. Young ones are usually ardent on music and thus will respond well to it. Some soothing or calming tunes will be best when you are teaching meditation postures. In case the yoga postures are dynamic then you can select a cheerful music. There are many music CDs available in the market primarily for the little ones.
There must be an element of fun in the kids' yoga class so that they enjoy it to the fullest. For example, you could bark in a dog pose and hiss while making a snake pose and the like. Your catch is usually to make the posture comical and thrilling.
Try some partner poses too because they can actually augment the interest levels. Build up partner poses and determine that you do at least one partner pose in each session. This way, you may make your kids understand the social skills, better coordination, etc.
